The Bundestag has expressed no-confidence vote to the Olaf Scholz's government. The majority of deputies voted in favor of this decision.
This was reported by the Spiegel publication on Monday, December 16.
Resignation of Olaf Scholz's government
The German parliament has expressed no-confidence vote to Olaf Scholz's government. The majority of deputies supported this. Early elections will be held in the future, the probable date is February 23, 2025. As the publication notes, this was an expected step initiated by Scholz after the collapse of the ruling coalition.
"717 deputies voted: 207 expressed their trust in Olaf Scholz, 394 voted against, 116 deputies abstained," the publication notes.
Before the voting, party leaders criticized Scholz's policies. He was criticized for the failure of energy policy, the emigrant crisis, the growth of debts and the reduction of defense spending.
It should be recalled that the Social Democratic Party of Germany ruled out in its election program any possibility of transferring long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. Thus, the party fully supports the position of the current Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.
Germany has allocated an additional 70 million euros to Ukraine. These funds will be used to purchase small thermal power plants, boiler houses and other power equipment.
