On January 1, Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory. At the same time, Russia was outraged by this decision and has already found the culprits.

This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Moscow's reaction to the suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine

Zakharova said that "the United States, the EU, and Ukraine itself are responsible for the termination of Russian gas supplies through Ukraine".

This decision outraged the aggressor country, and a spokeswoman for the hostile foreign ministry said that such actions would "weaken Europe's economic potential" and "negatively affect the living standards of Europeans".

At the same time, Zakharova did not say a word about the consequences of stopping gas transit for Russia.

What preceded it

As a reminder, on January 1 at 07:00 a.m., Ukraine stopped transporting Russian natural gas through its territory. This decision was made in the interests of national security and was an important step in the fight against energy dependence on Russia.

At the same time, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said that Ukraine was well prepared for this event and that the termination of Russian gas transit would not affect Ukrainians.

And President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that this is one of Moscow's biggest defeats.
