When will the war in Ukraine end — Trump has an answer
Special envoy of the newly elected US President Donald Trump, Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg believes that Ukraine and Russia are ready for peace talks. In addition, he said that the American leader will end the war in our country by the end of the year.
Kellogg said this during the broadcast of Fox Business on Wednesday, December 18.
What Kellogg said about the war in Ukraine
He noted that there will be a "perfect time" for this with the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House.
Kellogg said that both sides of the conflict are ready for peace talks due to significant losses and exhaustion.
"Imagine a fight in a cage. You have two fighters, and both want to stop. You need a referee to separate them. And I think President Donald Trump can do it," he said.
As is known, according to a representative of the US Department of Defense, Russia is losing up to 200 soldiers per day. It also became known that several hundred North Korean soldiers were killed or injured during the war in Ukraine.
At the same time, Ukrainian forces have lost about 40% of the territory they captured in the Kursk region of Russia.
The General added that the current situation is characterized by a war of attrition, where the ratio of losses between Ukraine and Russia is about one to five.
"After a thousand days of war, with 350 or 400 thousand dead Russians and 150 thousand dead Ukrainians or something like that, both sides are saying: "Maybe it's time to back down," he emphasized.
By the way, Kellogg also announced an upcoming trip to Kyiv in January, but noted that the details of the visit will be announced by the Trump transition team.
"We cannot shape policy because of the Logan Act. But we can talk to people... any trip will be for information gathering, not policymaking," the special envoy explained.
It should be recalled that on November 27, newly elected US President Donald Trump appointed a special representative for Ukraine — retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg.
In his first statement in office, Kellogg said he would work to secure peace through force.
