The Israeli parliament voted on Monday, October 28, to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in Israel. The agency's staff are accused of having connections with terrorists.

This was reported by The Times of Israel.

The UN agency has been banned from operating in Israel

It is known that 92 MPs voted in favor of the bill, which effectively bans UNRWA from operating in Israel, and only 10 voted against.

"Israel states that more than 10 percent of UNRWA staff in Gaza are linked to terrorism, and that educational institutions under the auspices of the organization constantly incite hatred of Israel and glorify terror," the report said.

Another adopted bill prohibits state authorities from entering into any contact with UNRWA. This will significantly limit the agency's activities in Gaza and the West Bank of the Jordan River.

UN Secretary General António Guterres said that the adoption of these bills would be a "catastrophe". High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell also warned that it would "have catastrophic consequences".

Previously, Ukraine made a statement after UN Secretary General António Guterres met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Kazan. The Secretary General was rejected to visit Ukraine.
