Investigative journalist Khristo Grozev suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin might agree to Ukraine's accession to NATO if certain conditions are met. The journalist said that these conditions could include the withdrawal of US military bases from Eastern Europe and the partial lifting of economic sanctions against Russia.

This was reported by Novinite.

What Putin may demand in exchange for "allowing" Ukraine to join NATO

Grozev explained that the Kremlin is ready to consider concessions that will reduce economic pressure and satisfy the demands of Russian oligarchs. In particular, this includes the withdrawal of US bases from Eastern European countries and the partial lifting of sanctions that negatively affect the Russian economy.

Such conditions may be acceptable to Donald Trump. However, it remains unclear whether Eastern European countries, in particular Poland and the Czech Republic, will agree to these concessions.

Putin puts pressure on Trump to have a winning position

According to Grozev, Putin is aware that the United States may issue a harsh ultimatum and is already putting pressure on Trump to exclude the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO from his political negotiations. However, the expert noted that Trump's previous statements about his readiness to stop the war in Ukraine do not always correspond to his actions after the election, when he probably changed his position after realizing the complexity of negotiations with the Kremlin.

According to Grozev, Putin's public objections to Ukraine's NATO membership are part of a strategy to strengthen his negotiating position. At the same time, the Russian elite is increasing pressure on Putin, demanding a reduction in international isolation and the restoration of economic stability.

Grozev's forecast for Ukraine—Russia talks

Grozev believes that the Kremlin will try to use any negotiations to gain long-term advantages by demonstrating a willingness to compromise. At the same time, Russia is unlikely to abandon its geopolitical ambitions in the region, even if it makes certain concessions.

As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently explained his opinion on how the United States can help Ukraine end the war and which European leaders prevented Ukraine from joining NATO in 2008.

And the BILD article stated that Russia is already developing a scenario for ending the war as a "victory for the Armed Forces" and achieving its goals.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the head of the Presidential Administration, said that NATO is not at all ready for war with Russia.
