"The EU Parliamentary delegation to Ukraine is taking over the presidency. Now the work begins, and it faces many challenges. Fortunately, there is very broad support for Ukraine in the Parliament," he wrote.

EU countries are willing and will help Ukraine but there are nuances

Pekka Toveri shared with journalists details on whether EU countries will continue to support Ukraine.

"If we look at the previous composition of the European Parliament that supported Ukraine, the vast majority remain in the same position. So, I am confident that we can count on this support in the future... All of our work will be based on what Ukraine needs. This will be the foundation of our efforts," the deputy stated.

The official added that he is eager to meet with Ukrainian colleagues from the Ukrainian Parliament as soon as possible to agree on the agenda for cooperation. He will not be working alone, but as part of a large group of like-minded individuals who support Ukraine. He also outlined the areas that will be prioritized.

"We need to gain support from all political parties and groups for the full backing of Ukraine. We must hold the first meeting as soon as possible to set our agenda. We have already drafted a plan with many different issues. This includes energy security as winter is approaching quickly. Military support is also a priority, as is what will happen to it after the U.S. elections. Even if the United States of America decides to reduce its support after the presidential elections, we need to ensure that Europe fills the gap and continues to support Ukraine," Pekka Toveri emphasized.

The politician also added that it has become more challenging for the EU to assist Ukraine, and they are seeking ways to meet all the objectives.

"Even if the EU has the funds, we currently don't have as many weapons. We need to find a way to provide Ukraine with everything it needs to defend itself," the European politician added.

Let us remind you that recently Ursula von der Leyen announced the transfer of €35 billion from the EU to support Ukraine’s energy sector and an additional 4.5 GW of capacity for the energy system. EU ambassadors also agreed on a sanctions package against Russia. President Zelensky stated that more than 30 countries have already expressed their willingness to help Ukraine in post-war reconstruction.
