South Korean Defense Minister resigns
South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun has resigned. It was he who suggested that the country's president declare martial law.

The minister announced his resignation in an official document sent to journalists.
"I take responsibility for all situations related to martial law and express my gratitude to the president," Kim Yong-hyun said.
It is reported that the Minister of Defense personally proposed to the President of South Korea to declare martial law.
The minister also added that all military personnel who performed duties related to martial law followed his instructions. He emphasized that "all responsibility lies with him".
As a reminder, South Korean President Yun Sook-yol announced the introduction of martial law. He stated that this was due to the threat posed by pro-North Korean forces.
