Florida is suffering from a powerful and deadly Hurricane Milton, which has already caused numerous destructions and human casualties. Almost 3 million customers have been reported to have lost power, homes have been destroyed and floods have occurred. In some places, the hurricane caused dozens of tornadoes that simultaneously hit the region.

This was reported by CNN.

What's happening in Florida right now because of Hurricane Milton

CNN correspondents reported that Florida has already received a thousand-year rainfall. Hurricane Milton made landfall as a category three hurricane with wind speeds of over 193 km/h. It subsequently weakened to a category one, but still posed a huge threat to the population.

It is currently known that more than 2.8 million people are without power. Near Siesta Key, some districts report that 70% of consumers have experienced power outages. And in the surrounding counties, 80% to 97% of energy customers remain without power, including Sarasota, Manatee and Hardee counties.

As a result of the hurricane, there are already victims and injured. In particular, several people died in St. Lucie — a tornado tore apart a mobile nursing home, the number of dead is currently unknown.

"We're not going to enter their number, but I can tell you it's not one person who lost a life," Sheriff Keith Pearson said.

Hundreds of homes in the county were completely destroyed. The full impact of the storm will not be known until Friday morning, October 11, when the hurricane moves out of the region. However, journalists and emergency services are already reporting flooded streets, debris from houses and trees in the area, and catastrophic damage.

In St. Petersburg, the wind ripped off the roof of the stadium and threw a construction crane onto the building.

Meteorologists believe that Milton will retain its destructive power and cover cities such as Lakeland, Kissimmee, Orlando and Cape Canaveral. Some cities have already experienced flooding due to excessive rainfall.

In particular, roads in Orlando have already been flooded, and residents have been warned of flash flooding.

Milton was the third hurricane to hit Florida in 2024. In total, there have been three record-breaking hurricanes this year - Frances, Helene, and Milton. The last time this happened was 150 years ago.

Previously, Florida residents were forced to evacuate their homes due to the predicted Hurricane Milton. Images of the deadly hurricane as seen from space have been published online.

Interestingly, Hurricane Milton even affected the Ramstein meeting scheduled for October 12. It was postponed, and a new date will be set later.
