On Monday, October 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The Ukrainian leader thanked the United States for the announced military aid package.

Meeting of Zelenskyy and Austin

During the meeting with Austin, the Ukrainian President thanked for the new defense aid package from the United States worth $400 million. It is known that it includes ammunition, military hardware and weapons for Ukraine.

"We discussed the most important defense priorities, in particular, the capabilities of Ukraine's air defense, preparations for the winter period and the expansion of the use of long-range weapons against Russian military facilities," Zelenskyy noted.

In addition, the representatives of the countries focused on efforts to increase the production of strike drones, cruise missiles, artillery shells and air defense systems. The President expressed his gratitude to US President Joe Biden, both parties of Congress and the American people.

"Together with all our allies, we are working to ensure victory and peace for Ukraine and all peace-loving nations," he added.

It should be recalled that during his visit to Kyiv, Lloyd Austin announced new military aid to Ukraine for $400 million.

We also wrote that France will purchase another 12 Caesar self-propelled guns for Ukraine. The funds for them came in the form of interest on Russian frozen assets.
