Zelenskyy explains what stands in the way of Ukraine joining NATO
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has already signed 27 security agreements with partners. All of them support Ukraine's accession to NATO.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his speech to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday, November 19.
Ukraine's NATO accession - the correction of a historic mistake
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine has concluded a number of security agreements with its partners. All of them support our country's accession to the Alliance.
"We have already signed 27 bilateral security agreements with our partners. Almost all of them are NATO members. And they support Ukraine's accession to NATO," the president said.
According to him, this number of security agreements shows that nothing fundamental separates Ukraine from the Alliance. He emphasized that the only thing missing is strength and political will. And it is not about Ukraine.
"We will convince our partners to be bold, but only together. This is not something additional or new for Ukraine. The NATO alliance is what we deserve. It is not a gift for us. This should be a correction of a historical mistake by our partners. This is what should have been done yesterday to avoid this war," said the President.
As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is preparing to open the first cluster of negotiations on joining the European Union. According to him, the procedure for screening the legislation necessary for this is currently being finalized.
Ukraine did not sign a bilateral agreement with Hungary because it did not provide for Budapest's support for Ukraine's membership in NATO. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this is an important point for Ukraine.
