Zelenskyy shared the details of the meeting with Rutte in Kyiv — an evening speech
Mark Rutte, the new Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, arrived in Kyiv on Thursday, October 3. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with him and discussed, in particular, defense support.
The Ukrainian leader said this during an evening video address.
Rutte's visit to Kyiv on October 3
"Today, the new head of NATO, Mark Rutte, made his first visit to Kyiv. This is his landmark visit to Ukraine — immediately after acquiring the powers of the Secretary General of the Alliance. And the most important thing now is to really fill such a priority with decisions," the report says.
Zelenskyy noted that it is extremely important to fully implement each of our agreements with partners on defense support. And its prompt delivery ensures the stability of the Defense Forces on the frontline, which must be strengthened.
He also emphasized the need to provide solutions for long-range strikes on Russia in order to end the war. At the same time, additional anti-aircraft systems for shooting down Russian missiles and drones are no less important before winter.
"We see that one of the main reasons for the lack of security in the skies of Ukraine and, in particular, near the borders of NATO — our neighbors — is the lack of decisions on joint work and joint defense," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the means that work in the skies of the Middle East and help the defense of Israel can also work in the skies of Ukraine — there are special technical solutions and quite effective tactics.
It should be recalled that during the meeting with Zelenskyy, Rutte discussed the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, the victory plan, the situation at the frontline, the delivery of weapons and the future "Ramstein".
We also wrote that Mark Rutte recently made a statement regarding Ukraine's permission to strike deep into Russian territory.
