Trump says minerals deal with Ukraine is ready to be signed
US-Ukraine agreement on rare earth minerals has been made. It is now territories and ownership of power plants on the agenda.
This was stated by US President Donald Trump, Reuters writes.
What is known about the deal
According to Trump, an official signing of the minerals agreement with Ukraine is to take place soon.
The US president also noted that negotiations are ongoing between Kyiv and Washington over the ownership of the power plant. This is likely to be the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP.
“We're talking about territory right now. We're talking about lines of demarcation, talking about power, power plant ownership. Some people are saying the United States should own the power plant...because we have the expertise,” Trump said.
Earlier we reported that during talks in Saudi Arabia on March 23, Ukraine and the United States discussed a number of important issues, including the safety of shipping, the protection of port infrastructure, and the possibility of halting naval shelling.
Also, Russia has put forward its own conditions for a long-term settlement of the war in Ukraine. Most of them are unacceptable to Kyiv and its European allies.
