The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed condolences to Turkey over the deaths of 76 people in the fire. The incident occurred at the ski resort.

The Head of State Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about it on social media platform X on Tuesday, January 21.

Zelenskyy reacted to the tragedy in Turkey

The President noted that he was deeply saddened by the terrible tragedy in Turkey. He noted that Ukraine condolences with the Turkish people.

"I express my condolences to President Erdogan, the entire Turkish people, the families and friends of the victims, as well as to all those affected by this grief. I wish a speedy recovery to all the affected," Zelenskyy wrote.

The aftermath of the fire in Turkey

According to CNN Turk, the death toll in the fire at the Turkish resort has risen to 76 people. The fire broke out in the 12-storey hotel at the Kartalkaya ski resort in Bolu.

The flames quickly engulfed the entire building, as it was made of wood. At the time of the fire, 237 people were staying at the hotel.

As a reminder, the ski lift collapsed at the Astun ski resort in Spain. At least 30 people who were holidaying there were injured.

The large-scale fire broke out in Dragobrat in Zakarpattia. The Polonyna hotel caught fire. It is believed to have been caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
