US President-elect Donald Trump may meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is likely to happen in 2025.

This was reported by The Washington Post on Friday, December 20.

The meeting between Trump and Putin

The article states that both leaders will seek to reach an agreement on Ukraine, but on different terms. Thus, Trump wants to conclude a peace agreement that will make him a global peacemaker.

Instead, Putin will want to strengthen Russia's position in order to weaken NATO and keep Ukrainian territories under his control.

Analysts believe that the new American president is geopolitically naïve and prone to intuitive decisions, which is why Russia is wary.

The publication writes that at the summit, Trump and Putin will reach an agreement to "divide the world into spheres of influence". This could limit the Alliance and jeopardize European security.

In addition, Trump wants to weaken ties between Russia and China, but these attempts are unlikely to succeed because of the countries' shared distrust of the United States.

To recap, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a phone conversation with Donald Trump. The main focus was on security policy in Europe and peace in Ukraine.

Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg believes that Ukraine and Russia are ready for peace talks. In addition, he said that the American leader will end the war in our country by the end of the year.
