German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to resume talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A call to the Russian dictator may take place in the near future.

This was reported by Tagesschau on Monday, November 11.

Restore contacts

Scholz told the ARD program that he was ready to talk to Putin about the war in Ukraine.

"Yes, I decided to talk to the Russian president at the right time. But I'm a responsible politician, I don't do it alone," said the politician.

The German chancellor emphasized that a dialogue with Putin requires a lot of contacts and conversations with many others.

"The situation also needs to be discussed with Ukraine," Scholz added.

When asked when the right time would be to talk to the Russian president, Scholz replied: "soon".

Earlier, the media reported that US President-elect Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The key topic was the war in Ukraine. Subsequently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that it knew nothing about the phone call between Trump and Putin. All information that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine had approved this conversation is false. And the Kremlin has denied having a conversation with Trump.
