National Security Advisor to US President Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan, has appealed to US President-elect Donald Trump and urged him to continue military assistance to Ukraine. He is convinced that this is a "serious lever of pressure" on Russia.

This was reported by Politico.

Jake Sullivan emphasized that in order to reach a fair peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, it is necessary to use "leverage", which is the constant military support of Ukraine.

The adviser also noted that the weakening of US adversaries, in particular Russia and Iran, could create opportunities for diplomatic achievements for Trump, given the newly elected US president's propensity for unpredictable actions.

"He's willing to do unexpected things," Sullivan said of Trump.

In addition, he is convinced that the Biden administration leaves the newly elected president in a strong position globally and that the US competitors are much weaker.

"I think we're passing on a very strong position for the United States in terms of our national power... America's competitors and adversaries are weaker and under more pressure than before," Sullivan said.

As a reminder, on December 20, Reuters reported that the Biden administration would announce the latest military aid package for Ukraine in the coming days.

At the same time, Donald Trump made a big promise to Ukraine and said he would soon end the war and "stop the chaos in the Middle East".
