EU approved €4.2 billion for macro-financial stability of Ukraine

On Monday, December 9, the Council of the European Union approved the provision of new assistance to Ukraine. The payment of €4.2 billion will go to support the country's macro-financial stability.

Financial assistance from the EU

The second payment of more than €4.2 billion under the EU program "Ukraine" will be directed to support the country's macro-financial stability and the functioning of public administration.

The adopted decision states that Ukraine has fulfilled the necessary requirements and reforms envisaged for receiving funds. It emphasized the importance of allocating money as soon as possible, taking into account the difficult financial situation.

It is noted that the plan defines the intentions for recovery, reconstruction and modernization, as well as reforms that the country plans to implement as part of the EU accession process over the next four years.

As a reminder, the administration of the US President Joe Biden announced a new security assistance package for Ukraine totaling $988 million.
