Putin issued an ultimatum of signing peace to Zelenskyy
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin considers the leadership in Ukraine illegitimate. The only exception for him is the Ukrainian Parliament. Therefore, Russia will talk to Volodymyr Zelenskyy only if he runs for election and gains legitimacy.
The Russian president said this during a broadcast of a large annual press conference on Thursday, December 19.
Putin called Zelenskyy an illegitimate president
According to the Russian dictator, who has been in power for almost 25 years, the Constitution of Ukraine does not involve the possible extension of the president's powers even under martial law. According to Putin, there is only one body whose powers can be extended without elections — the Ukrainian Parliament.
"If he goes to the polls and gains legitimacy — we will talk to anyone, including Zelenskyy," Putin said.
He also added that Russia agrees to sign anything only with legitimate authorities. Currently, according to the dictator, only the Ukrainian Parliament and the Prime Minister are such.
"They can organize this process inside Ukraine as they want, but we can sign something only with those who are legitimate. The Parliament and the Prime Minister are legitimate," the Russian president said.
Let us recall that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that Russia had achieved its goals in Syria. The main goal of the Russian Federation was supposedly to prevent terrorist formations.
The Russian President also called the war in Ukraine "hustle". In addition, the Russian President noted that Russians are bored when everything is calm.
