Finnish President Alexander Stubb believes that US President-elect Donald Trump is determined to conclude a peace agreement on Ukraine as soon as possible. Stubb believes that there is a "window of opportunity for peace talks" now.

Alexander Stubb said this in an interview on Bloomberg TV.

Stubb talks to Trump about Ukraine

Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that during a phone conversation with Donald Trump on the evening of November 11, it became clear to him that "the newly elected president should be taken seriously when he talks about ending Russia's war in Ukraine".

"We in Europe and the rest of the world need to understand that Donald Trump is very serious about getting a peace deal done as soon as possible. There is a window of opportunity for these negotiations between the election and the day of the inauguration," Stubb said.

Stubb listed four preconditions for peace in Ukraine. One of them is the territory.

"Here we do not know where everything will be resolved. The second is security guarantees, the third is justice, and the fourth is reconstruction," said the leader of Finland.

Last month, Finland's president met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a visit to Beijing, where the Russian war was also discussed as Xi works to maintain close bilateral ties with the Kremlin.

As a reminder, as an alternative to NATO membership, Germany offers Ukraine a "neutral" status similar to Finland. This idea is seen as a possible path to peace talks with Russia.

Earlier, Novyny.LIVE wrote that Ukraine and Hungary are preparing a bilateral document aimed at overcoming misunderstandings in their relations. In particular, it concerns discussions on Ukraine's accession to NATO.
