The corruption scandal around the medical and social expert commissions is negatively perceived by international partners. This situation is strengthening Russian propaganda among Western countries.

This was reported by Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

How did partners react to the scandal with MSEC

Podolyak said that Ukraine's partners negatively perceive the corruption scandal around the medical and social expert commissions. According to him, when officials illegally receive the status of a person with a disability and the payments provided, this is looting, not corruption.

Podolyak added that Russian propaganda, which has huge information platforms among Western countries, is also involved in this issue.

"What do our partners see? They see that some people during the war are looting and receiving crazy "incomes". And so on. Of course, this is discouraging. Of course, Russian propaganda is then invested in this," the Advisor to the Head of the OPU said.

He emphasized that in the first year of the full-scale invasion, no one even thought about what could be stolen, because everyone was aware of the situation.

"Accordingly, if our reputation looks like this, if our reputation does not look very positive in one direction or another, then why do we expect our partners to continue to persistently support us, as it was at the beginning of the war?" Podolyak emphasized.

The Advisor to the Head of the OPU also named four components that will help resolve the situation:

•    The first component is state institutions. According to Podolyak, the state should conduct investigative actions regarding the situation and issue appropriate sentences.
•    The second component is reputation. It is necessary to explain to partners that Ukraine is aware of the existence of corruption, but is taking fairly tough steps to overcome it.
•    The third component is changes in society. Society cannot tolerate such actions.
•    The fourth component is journalistic work. Journalists must conduct clear investigations with specific facts about the situation in the country.

It should be reminded, that economic analyst Pavlo Sebastianovich stated that the National Agency on Corruption Prevention is probably also involved in corruption scandals in the MSEС with the purchase of fake disabilities.

We wrote that the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko dismissed the leadership of the MSEC and the relevant department of the Ministry of Health. In addition, Ukraine will conduct diagnostic checks of all officials.
