Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels. They discussed Ukraine's accession to the European Union and priorities in the work of the new members of the European Commission.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, via Telegram on Thursday, December 19.

The President of Ukraine thanked Ursula von der Leyen for her assistance to Ukraine. He noted that the common position of Ukraine and all other European countries is important for a fair peace.

"We talked separately about the use of frozen Russian assets for the needs of Ukraine. Thank you for the new EU macro-financial assistance in the amount of 18.1 billion euros within the G7 loan. We expect the first tranche in January 2025," Zelenskyy noted.

As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on a working visit to Brussels. The President of Ukraine met with the President of the European Council, António Costa.

In addition, the Head of State met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels. They discussed strengthening of Ukraine's air defense system and creating conditions for ensuring long-lasting peace.
