Farmers fear competition between Poland and Ukraine
Denys Marchuk, deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, said that Polish farmers feel threatened by Ukrainian products. The reason is the high quality and competitive price of the latter.
Marchuk said this on We Are Ukraine on Friday, January 3.
Competition between Polish and Ukrainian farmers
"As part of the duty-free program, when Ukraine exported a significant amount of products, the Poles realized that our products were not only of high quality but also cheaper. This raises their concerns about competition," Marchuk explained.
He also noted that any disagreements or conflicts between the parties are often linked to Ukraine, as the Ukrainian agricultural sector has a significant impact on the European market.
To recap, Polish farmers agreed to suspend their protest on the border with Ukraine until December 10. However, the protesters threaten to resume blocking the border if their conditions are not met.
It should be added that in Poland, almost 60% of Ukrainians who moved after the outbreak of the war have a monthly income of 4 thousand net zlotys, which corresponds to about 40.8 thousand hryvnias. The highest earnings are observed in the fields of transportation, construction, and information technology.
