Europe is asking the administration of the US President Joe Biden to increase aid to Ukraine. They note that this must be done before the arrival of Donald Trump.

Bloomberg reports this on Thursday, November 14.

The US aid to Ukraine

Donald Trump, who will take office on January 20, has expressed his intention to achieve a quick agreement between Kyiv and Moscow. This has raised concerns in Europe that it may be disadvantageous for Ukraine and even consolidate Russia's "territorial gains" after its invasion in 2022.

The publication's sources note that European leaders have appealed to the US to provide Ukraine with more weapons, tighten sanctions against Russia and limit its access to banned weapons technologies.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Brussels to reassure NATO and the EU allies of increased support for Ukraine, pledging to quickly use every dollar of the $61 billion package approved by Congress.

The United States is preparing new sanctions against Russia’s oil fleet and North Korea. The restrictions are expected to be approved by the end of November.

"The next few weeks will be crucial for Ukraine to take a strong position," Mark Leonard, director of the European Council on Foreign Relations, said.

According to him, Trump "could try to freeze the conflict at a point where Russia occupied 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory".

European leaders are demanding that Ukraine should be allowed to use Western weapons, including Britain’s Storm Shadow and France’s SCALP, to strike military targets in Russia. They believe this will improve protection against attacks on critical infrastructure. However, Biden and Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz are opposed to it due to the potential escalation of the conflict.

"When we communicate with our American partners, I hope that we will continue to support the Ukrainians, including in terms of strikes deep into the territory through legitimate defense," French Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad said.

As a reminder, the Biden administration plans to send a request to Congress for new aid for Ukraine for fiscal year 2025.

Previously, the United States allocated $825 million to Ukraine in emergency energy funding, which will be aimed at increasing generation and repair of energy networks.
