The head of the Office of the President, Andrii Yermak, informed that today the United States announced the new sanctions package aimed at increasing pressure on Russia over its aggression against Ukraine and violation of international law. He noted that a number of proposals from the McFaul-Yermak Sanctions Group had been taken into account.

Yermak informed about it on Wednesday, January 15.

New US sanctions package

Yermak informed that the sanctions list includes key enterprises, companies, foreign partners, and individuals who support Russia’s military power, conduct financial fraud in its favor, and violate the sanctions regime. We are talking about almost 100 entities.

"For example, banks associated with the circumvention of restrictions have been sanctioned. In particular, among them is Keremet Bank, the financial institution in Kyrgyzstan that cooperated with Russian officials to circumvent sanctions," Yermak informed.

The following companies were also subject to restrictions:

  • FSUE "Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant" and its General Director V. Isaiev. This structure was established to illegally manage the temporarily occupied ZNPP;
  • two subsidiaries of Rosatom: NPO Centrotech and FSUE Mining and Chemical Combine.
  • more than 25 Russian defence enterprises, such as the Serov Mechanical Plant, the Frunze Research and Production Association, and the Saransk Instrument-Making Plant;
  • foreign companies from China, Turkey, the UAE, and Malaysia, which supplied millions of batches of goods to Russian enterprises under sanctions;
  • almost 30 Russian companies engaged in the purchase and distribution of sanctioned goods. In particular, for the production of ZALA drones;
  • Viktorov, the lawyer who facilitated the concealment of the assets of the Rotenbergs through international investments, and related companies, including the management company Evocorp;
  • Kozlov, the bodyguard and beneficiary of some of the companies owned by Boris Rotenberg;
  • Around 25 Russian metallurgical enterprises, including Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant, Terra Steel Group, and companies of the Keramax Group;
  • Turkish shipyard KUZEY STAR SHIPYARD, which built the floating dock for servicing nuclear icebreakers in Russia.

The Head of the Office of the President added that the sanctions are aimed at undermining the financial and technological capabilities of the Aggressor State to wage war against Ukraine and circumvent existing restrictions.

"I am grateful to our experts for their work on the study of components in Russian arms. This is a great job, you are doing a great job," Yermak noted.

As a reminder, on January 10, the United States Treasury Department imposed the largest sanctions in history against Russia’s Oil Industry.

Earlier, we reported that the European Union is considering restrictions on imports of Russian aluminum and the gradual withdrawal of liquefied natural gas from the country as part of a new sanctions package.
