US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has overtaken Donald Trump in a new poll. It was conducted in the state of Iowa.

This was reported by Reuters on Sunday, November 3.

Polls on support for US presidential candidates

The Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll found that 47% of likely voters support Harris, while 44% support Trump.

"The poll shows that the shift in favor of Harris is driven by women, particularly older and independent voters," the Des Moines Register writes.

It is known that Trump won Iowa during his two previous presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020.

According to another Emerson College/RealClearDefense poll, conducted on November 1-2, Trump has a ten percent advantage.

This difference can be explained by Trump's high support among men and independent voters, while Harris receives the most support among voters under 30.

In Pennsylvania, candidates Harris and Trump have almost equal results. The Democrat's advantage is only one percent.

The US Democratic Party also has a contingency plan in case Donald Trump declares his victory in the election beforehand.
