This was reported by the press service of the Helsinki City Board on Wednesday, November 13.

The decision to provide assistance to Ukraine and send a shipment worth 77,000 euros was made by the Helsinki City Board on November 11, 2024. It is noted that the capital of Finland has been actively supporting Ukrainian cities affected by hostilities since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

"The City of Helsinki has supported Ukrainian cities in various ways since the outbreak of Russia's war of aggression. As the war situation continues, there is a constant need for assistance to mitigate the damage and losses caused by military action," the release says.

The donated property includes used cars and other equipment that can be useful to Ukrainians.

"The need for assistance in Ukraine concerns all sectors of society. At the same time, sending concrete aid to Ukraine sends an unwavering message of our commitment to working with the Ukrainians. Since the outbreak of the war, Helsinki has offered its support in many ways, helping both Ukrainians who have arrived here and those who have stayed in their home country," said Helsinki Mayor Juhaan Vartiainen.

The Rescue Department of the Ministry of the Interior coordinates Finland's civilian assistance to Ukraine through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. As with previous donations from Helsinki, the Ministry of the Interior is responsible for delivering materials to Ukraine.

As a reminder, the Lithuanian government has approved a decision to allocate an additional EUR 13 million to the Lithuanian Fund for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. The funds will be used to finance reconstruction projects in Ukraine.

Earlier, Novyny.LIVE wrote that the Pentagon said that since the approval of additional funding in April 2024, Ukraine has already received most of the ammunition, air defense, and firepower. In total, the United States has another $9.3 billion to help Ukraine.
