Estonia will spend at least 0.25% of its GDP on aid to Ukraine for the next 4 years. The support will be primarily in the Defence Sector.

It was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha at the joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna in Kyiv on Tuesday, January 14.

Estonia’s support for Ukraine

"We highly appreciate Estonia’s leadership in supporting Ukraine, especially in the Defence Sector. It has fixed at least 0.25% of GDP for the next 4 years and the current government of Prime Minister Kristen Michal is strictly adhering to these commitments and we are grateful for that," Sybiha said.

The Minister added that only through joint efforts can Russia be held accountable for all the crimes it has committed on the territory of Ukraine.

As a reminder, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently discussed strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the Estonian Prime Minister. It was Kristen Michal’s first visit to Ukraine.

Also on Tuesday, January 14, Germany handed over the new military aid package to Ukraine. It is already known what arms were included in the list.
