Erdogan sees himself and Putin as the world's two leaders
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that there are only two leaders left in the world. According to him, they are him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This was reported by Hurriyet on Monday, December 9.
Erdogan's statement
He called the relationship with Putin "truly special".
"There are two most experienced political leaders. One is Putin and the other is me. Because when we put our prime ministership and presidency one after the other, we have a period of 15-16 years. It is the same with Putin," Erdogan said.
He noted that they both "have already done a lot and have many more plans". And their position in action "sends a signal to America". At the same time, he believes that politics in Germany ended after Angela Merkel left office.
Earlier, Erdogan spoke positively about US President-elect Donald Trump's intentions to end the war in Ukraine. He stated that this could easily be realized if Trump takes a solution-based approach to the situation.
Erdogan also believes that the UN is no longer an effective instrument of global governance and needs to be reformed.
