The UK has announced an urgent allocation of 35 million pounds sterling (about 42 million euros) to Ukraine. These funds are designed to support the Ukrainian energy system, as well as the most vulnerable categories of the population.

This was reported by "European Pravda" with reference to the press service of the British government on Tuesday, December 17.

About 42 million euros for Ukraine

The report states that 20 million pounds of the total amount is intended to support the functioning of the energy system. In particular, it is about repairing damaged infrastructure, creating additional capacity for generation and protection of energy infrastructure facilities.

"This is a project that will provide the generation of an additional 20 MW, these volumes are enough for about 20 thousand households," the report says.

In addition, 15 million pounds are allocated for humanitarian assistance for the most vulnerable categories of the population. 5 million pounds will come through UNICEF projects, and 10 million through the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. These funds are intended for the winter arrangement of collective housing for internally displaced people and "winter" cash support.

It should be recalled that the European Union will provide Ukraine with a fixed amount of cash assistance. It is planned to allocate 1.5 billion euros per month.

Germany has allocated another 70 million euros to Ukraine. These funds will be spent on the purchase of small thermal power plants, boiler houses and other power equipment.
