Zelenskyy met with Slovak politicians — what did they discuss
On Friday, January 17, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a delegation of the Progressive Slovakia party led by its leader Michal Šimečka. The parties discussed energy security and support for Ukraine on its path to the EU and NATO.

Details of the meeting
The President's office noted that Zelenskyy thanked the Slovak people for supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
"We are very grateful to all Slovak people for everything you have done for our people, for your attitude towards Ukrainians. Thank you for supporting our sovereignty and territorial integrity," Zelenskyy said.
The press service added that the parties also discussed issues of energy security. Zelenskyy stressed his readiness to engage in dialogue with Slovakia in order to find practical solutions to ensure the stability of energy supplies. He stressed the importance of a signal of support from Slovakia on Ukraine's way to the EU and NATO, especially in times of war.
"We are ready to help the Slovak people in the issue of energy stability and security. It is very important for us to geta signal from the Slovak people that you will also support Ukrainians on our way to the EU and NATO. This is a key issue for us because of the war, because of security guarantees, which are very important to us," summarized the Ukrainian leader.
In his turn, Šimečka thanked the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their courage in defending not only their country but also the whole of Europe.
"A lot of people in Slovakia appreciate this very much. They are praying for Ukraine - safe, sovereign, living in peace and part of the European Union," the politician said, .
