In 2024, more than a thousand Ukrainian citizens were returned from Russian captivity. Among them are both military and civilians.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Facebook on Friday, January 3.

According to Zelenskyy, 1358 Ukrainian citizens have been returned from Russian captivity.

"These people have different fates, but the same joy — to be at home. Everyone for whom the great team of Ukraine worked tirelessly," the message reads.

The President emphasized that Ukraine is working to ensure that in 2025 there will be even more such good news and the return of Ukrainians from captivity.

"We are grateful to the partners who help," Zelenskyy summarized.

As a reminder, on December 30, 2024, a New Year's Eve exchange took place — Ukraine returned 189 citizens home. Subsequently, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy released footage of the exchange.
