Exchange of captivated soldiers on December 30
"The return of our people from Russian captivity is always very good news for each of us. And today is one of such days: our team managed to return 189 Ukrainians home," the message says.
Among those released from captivity are defenders of "Azovstal" and Mariupol, the Chornobyl NPP, Snake Island and from other areas of the front line. These are soldiers, sergeants and officers. These are National Guardsmen, including "Azov", border guards, territorial defenders, soldiers of the Navy and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, two of them are civilians who were captured by the occupiers in Mariupol. Zelenskyy emphasized that work on the release of each and every Ukrainian continues, no one has been forgotten.
"I thank the team that is doing everything to ensure that our people will return. I thank all partners, in particular the UAE, who are helping us with this," he added.
It should be noted that the previous exchange of prisoners took place more than two months ago — on October 18. Then 95 Ukrainians were returned home.
Previously, the Accounting Chamber calculated how much money Ukraine spent on the maintenance of Russian prisoners of war.
South Korean intelligence also confirmed the capture of the first DPRK soldier by Ukraine in the Kursk region. However, he died later due to the injures.
