Aid in exchange for natural resources
Kyiv understands that the new Trump administration will act with a pragmatic approach to Ukraine. To this end, the Victory Plan is designed to demonstrate to the United States and other Western partners that supporting Ukraine is not just charity, but also mutually beneficial cooperation. The Ukrainian authorities seek to show that this assistance benefits both sides, which should become the basis for continued assistance in the future.
This approach allows Kyiv to strengthen connections with international partners, justifying the importance of helping Ukraine for regional stability and for overall security.
The first part of Ukraine’s Victory Plan involves an invitation to NATO, increased arms supplies, and the lifting of restrictions on strikes deep into Russia. However, the last two points focus on what Kyiv is ready to offer in return.
According to Politico, this includes using Ukraine's natural resources and combat-ready troops to ensure the security of Europe after the war.
It should be recalled, that Zelenskyy expressed indignation at the inability to independently use Russia's frozen assets worth $300 billion.
Previously, Zelenskyy claimed that Donald Trump would probably try to find a faster solution for Ukraine.
