President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the politicians' conversation via Telegram on Wednesday, December 11.
Zelenskyy's reaction to Orbán's conversation with Putin
President Zelenskyy thanked President Trump and many European leaders with whom Ukraine cooperates to find the right solutions for the sake of "real peace". In turn, he criticized Orbán's idea to discuss the situation in Ukraine with Putin without the knowledge of the state.
"We should not contribute to our own image at the expense of unity — we should take care of common success. It is unity in Europe that always brings success. Talks about the war against Ukraine, which Russia is waging, cannot take place without Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine also added that achieving real peace and guaranteed security requires the determination of America, the unity of Europe, and the willingness of all partners to adhere to the goals and principles of the UN Charter. The President of Ukraine was not without sarcasm.
"We all hope that Viktor Orbán will not at least call Assad in Moscow to listen to his hour-long lectures," Zelenskyy wrote.
