U.S. and Russia keep in touch at intelligence level
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States has had intelligence contacts with the Russian Federation for all three years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He emphasized that within the framework of these contacts, the American side must understand that the Russians are the occupiers.
Zelensky said this during an interview he gave in Davos, according to Novyny.LIVE on Wednesday, January 22.
The United States continue to be in contact with Russia
Zelenskyy emphasized that Trump had informed him that he was looking for contacts with the Russian side. However, there have been contacts between Americans and Russians before.
"We have to be frank. At the level of intelligence, the United States and Russia have had contacts for all three years of the war. They had a lot of contacts, as well as Europeans," Zelenskyy explained.
The head of state then said that he believes that diplomacy should be isolated. If the leaders of the countries do not speak to each other, but maintain contacts through intelligence, then this may satisfy Russia.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine should remain a priority for the United States in its contacts with Moscow.
"We are allies of the United States, we are the victim, and Putin is the invader," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, we wrote that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Brazil's initiative to end the war. He explained why he does not consider the Brazilian peace plan and how, in his opinion, the war should end.
As a reminder, Zelenskyy also explained how to talk to Vladimir Putin.
