Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Communications Dmytro Lytvyn responded to the offer of the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán to organize a "Christmas truce" between Ukraine and the aggressor state — Russia. He emphasized that the Hungarian side did not discuss anything with our state.

Lytvyn said this in a comment to Novyny.LIVE on Wednesday, December 11.

The OP responded to Hungary's offers

Lytvyn emphasized that, as always, the Hungarian side did not discuss anything with Ukraine and did not hold consultations. This also applies to Hungary's contacts with Moscow. He also emphasized that Ukraine did not authorize Hungary to do anything.

The OP's advisor added that Ukraine is working on a daily basis to release captured soldiers. Relevant contacts regarding a large-scale exchange by the end of the year have been ongoing for two weeks.

"We are committed to full-fledged peace, and we are doing everything in coordination with partners to achieve this, together with America, Europe, and other partners in the world," Lytvyn added.

In addition, according to Lytvyn, Ukraine needs not empty talk, but a fair peace and reliable security guarantees.

What Orbán offered

Previously, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that he had proposed a "Christmas truce" and a large-scale exchange of captured soldiers between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

"At the end of Hungary's EU presidency, we made new efforts for peace. We proposed a Christmas ceasefire and a large-scale exchange of captured soldiers," the statement said.

According to the Hungarian leader, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected this idea.

"We did what we could," Viktor Orbán added.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Orbán's conversation with Putin. At the same time, he recalled how Assad ended his reign.

It should be reminded that, as reported by the media, Hungarian Special Services could have illegally spied on European Union officials. This probably happened during their visit to the country.
