Russia issued an ultimatum to end the war in Ukraine. The Russian Federation is demanding that NATO’s promise in Bucharest to allow Ukraine to join the Alliance be canceled. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to the Russians’ conditions.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Heorhii Tykhyi published his post in this regard on the social network X on Friday, January 24.

The MFA’s reaction to Russia’s demands

"Aw shucks, North Korea’s ally issuing ultimatums to NATO. Utter bullshit. Moscow has no say here", Tykhyi wrote.

He also added that the Russian Federation has unleashed and is waging an aggressive war, and occupation forces are in Ukraine and other European countries. That is why Russia cannot make such conditions.

As a reminder, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, reiterated that NATO countries should increase defence spending to 5% of GDP. He is convinced that this would be fair.

The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, assumed that if Ukraine lost the war, it would cost the Alliance more than the increase in support costs. Rutte also added that NATO is a guarantee of security for Ukraine.
