Powerful earthquake hits Tibet — more than 50 dead
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred in Tibet near Nepal. It killed at least 53 people.

Earthquake in Tibet
According to the Chinese authorities, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred this morning in the northern foothills of the Himalayas in Tibet.
It killed at least 53 people and injured 62. Buildings in neighboring countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, and India were also destroyed.

It is known that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers in the rural district of Tingri, which is called the northern gateway to the Everest region.
At the same time, according to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.1.
As a reminder, in December, several earthquakes occurred in Northern California, one of which reached a magnitude of 7.0.
In November, seismologists recorded two earthquakes in Romania.
