Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to meet to discuss ending the war. The United States will organize this meeting.

This was stated by US President-elect Donald Trump during a speech to Republican governors on Thursday, January 9.

When will Putin meet with Trump?

According to the American leader, Putin seems to want to meet with him and talk about the war in Ukraine. He also added that such a meeting is currently being organized. However, Trump did not say when such a conversation might take place.

"We've had many conversations with President Xi, and we have many meetings scheduled with many people. He has even spoken about it publicly. And we have to end this war. It's a bloody mess,"  said Trump.

Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to end the war quickly. According to Reuters, the Kremlin assured that Putin would welcome Trump's desire to establish contact, but there have been no official requests so far. Dmitry Peskov noted that it would be more appropriate to wait until Trump takes office.

As a reminder, the media denied Donald Trump's claim that the war in Ukraine would end in six months. It turned out that the politician meant something else.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine must be in a strong position to negotiate. He added that the war can be ended with the help of the US president.
