US, Europe prepare plan for 30-day ceasefire — Media
The United States is working with its European partners on a proposal for a 30-day cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine. Otherwise, sanctions could be imposed.
Reuters reports this with reference to a French diplomatic source.
What is known about the ceasefire plan from the partners
According to the source, the United States, together with its European allies, is finalizing a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.
"We are reaching a point where we will not wait for a formal response from Moscow to a joint proposal to declare this ceasefire," said the source.
The agency reports that if Russia rejects this initiative, new sanctions may be imposed, but their content has not yet been disclosed.
The Reuters source also noted that the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire has not yet been approved and will be discussed over the weekend at the "Coalition of the Resolute" summit to be held in Ukraine.
As a reminder, the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, said that Russia cannot expect to get Ukrainian territories. It has not even conquered these lands yet.
As a reminder, on May 7, during his evening video address, Zelensky noted that the ceasefire proposal still stands.
Also, the new Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, stated that Ukraine could continue to rely on the Federal Republic of Germany in the fight against Russian aggression.
