Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal spoke during the events dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day. He said that the government is currently focusing on discussing anti-corruption policy and the achievements of recent years.

Fighting corruption

"It is very important that we have finally reached a consensus that anti-corruption policy in Ukraine should not be limited to fighting corruption," he said.

According to Shmyhal, it should not only be a response to the consequences, but also a fight against the causes. Therefore, the strategy of the government is to eliminate the possibility of corruption itself to the greatest possible extent.

He explained that this means institutional changes, regulation, digitalization, corporate governance, continuous improvement of the procurement system, high-quality audit and zero tolerance for corruption.

The Prime Minister reminded that the government had adopted an anti-corruption program for 2023-2025, and its active implementation is underway.

He clarified that these are 1,700 measures across 15 areas and plans to implement 63 new digital products, which will significantly reduce opportunities for any abuse.

As a reminder, the Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv was at the center of a scandal due to inefficient work and undeclared luxury cars of its employees.

And the State Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into mass disability among prosecutors across Ukraine.
