What will the change of US President bring to Ukraine — senator
In the United States, Democratic Senator Paul Strauss from the District of Columbia told what to expect from the change of power in his country. He convinced that Republicans will not support Ukraine as actively as Democrats.
Strauss said this during an exclusive interview with a correspondent of Novyny.LIVE, Ulyana Boychuk on Thursday, December 26.
Republicans will not support Ukraine
"I think that Republicans will not support Ukraine in the way Democrats and Republicans did in the previous Congress. For example, there are people like Mitt Romney — a principled Republican from Utah and a strong supporter of freedom for Ukraine, but he is leaving the Senate," Strauss noted.
There are other senators who are leaving. Thus, Donald Trump's influence on the Republican Party seems almost absolute. Strauss added that Ukrainians should prepare for active work on advocating for military and humanitarian aid.
"No matter how effective and convincing they try to be, I want to warn that a very different philosophy will govern the United States, and this will not be good for Ukrainians who want a democratic government and closer ties with Europe," the senator explained.
The politician noted that support from the United States will go in a different direction, so Ukraine needs to accept the challenges of this situation.
Previously, we reported that currently, Elon Musk does not have any really working political levers. However, he still has influence on the newly elected US President Donald Trump.
It should be recalled that Trump promised to stop the war in Ukraine. The American politician also wants to prevent World War III.
