Slovak PM will visit Russia to celebrate May 9
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has accepted the Russian dictator's invitation to take part in the May 9 celebrations. They will be held in Moscow.
Robert Fico announced this on Facebook on Wednesday, November 27.
Fico is going to Moscow
Fico noted that the people of Slovakia respectfully honor the events and anniversaries associated with the liberation of the country by the Red Army in 1944-1945, and also highly appreciate the assistance of the former Soviet Union to the Slovak National Uprising.
According to him, the Slovak government values the legacy of the fight against fascism, "the historical truth about World War II and the role played by the Red Army in it."
"That is why in 2025, the Slovak government will organize a series of events that will culminate in the May celebrations of the victory over fascism. In the spirit of the above, it is natural that, as Prime Minister, I have a great interest in participating in the official celebrations of the victory over fascism that will take place in Moscow on May 9, 2025. Therefore, I gladly accepted Putin's official invitation to take part in these important celebrations, which I will do," the Prime Minister added.
As we wrote earlier, Fico said in an interview with Russian propagandist Olga Skabeeva that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had allegedly asked EU countries to deploy nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory.
The Guardian also wrote that Putin may start negotiations in early 2025, as the stockpile of Soviet weapons will run out by the end of 2024.
