Before the New Year, the Financial Times published a forecast of trends for the coming year. In particular, journalists believe that Ukraine will make peace with Russia in 2025.

This was reported by The Financial Times on Tuesday, December 31.

Peace between Ukraine and Russia

The FT believes that US President-elect Donald Trump will have to resort to threats of tougher sanctions and increased support for Ukraine to persuade the Russian dictator to negotiate.

Journalists predict that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will agree to Russia's de facto control over the temporarily occupied territories, but not legally.

As a result, Ukraine may receive European security guarantees with the support of the United States, and NATO membership will be frozen.

Other FT forecasts

The FT predicts that Trump will impose at least a 10% tariff on half of US imports, including Chinese goods. This will force other countries to compromise. As a result, most tariffs will be canceled by the end of the year.

And due to deflation, export prices in yuan will decline even further. This will allow China to compensate for a possible increase in US tariffs, and cheap Chinese goods will flood other international markets.

Journalists predict that Trump will not quarrel with Elon Musk, as the benefits of an alliance with the president are too great for the billionaire's companies.

To recap, Putin, answering a question about the possible end of the war in 2025, said that he wanted it to end, but "it is not in his power".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also said that Russia is ready to cooperate with the new Donald Trump administration to improve bilateral relations.
