Canada is preparing new sanctions against Russia — what is known
Canada is preparing new sanctions against Russia. The reason is the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and other civilians from temporarily occupied territories.
This was reported by the Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Olena Kondratyuk via Telegram on Friday, November 1.
Sanctions against Russia
Kondratyuk noted that the preparation of new sanctions was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly. According to her, this is an important step forward and the result of the Ministerial Conference dedicated to the fourth point of the Ukrainian Peace Formula "Release of prisoners of war and deportees". It took place in Montreal, Canada.
"By persuading our Western colleagues to adopt parliamentary resolutions condemning the criminal actions of the Russian Federation in the abduction of Ukrainian children, we are also raising the issue of introducing personal sanctions against all those involved in their abduction, illegal displacement, forced adoption, unjustified delay in the repatriation of children, and attempts to change their identity," Kondratyuk says.
She explained that we are talking about hundreds of Russian officials and other "activists".
"I am grateful to Canada for the important steps forward, the conference it held, and its leadership in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, which has already been joined by 41 countries around the world," the Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament said.
It should be recalled that the American company Nvidia has restricted Russians from updating drivers for its video cards.
The US has also imposed sanctions against Chinese companies due to their participation in the development of strike drones for Russia.
