Israel confirms involvement in Hamas leader's assassination
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has officially confirmed that the country was behind the assassination of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. It happened in the summer of 2024 in Tehran.
This was reported by The Times of Israel, citing a statement by an Israeli minister on Monday, December 23.
Israel's involvement in the murder of Ismail Haniyeh
According to the newspaper, Katz referred to the Yemeni Houthis who are firing rockets into Israeli territory. The minister noted that Israel has defeated Hamas and Hezbollah.
"In these days when the Houthi terrorist organization is firing rockets at Israel, I want to send them a clear message: we have defeated Hamas, we have defeated Hezbollah, we have blinded the defense systems in Iran and damaged [the rocket] production systems. We overthrew the Assad regime in Syria, we dealt heavy blows to the 'axis of evil', and we will deal a serious blow to the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen, which is the last one left," Katz said.
He also added that Israel will strike at the strategic infrastructure of the Houthis and "decapitate its leaders".
"Just as we did with Haniyeh, Sinwar and Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza and Lebanon, we will do in Hodeidah and Sanaa. Anyone who raises a hand against Israel will have it cut off," Katz said.
As a reminder, the Israeli Defense Forces destroyed weapons and ammunition of the army of the ousted Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria. In particular, Israeli planes attacked military installations in the provinces of Latakia and Tartus, causing powerful explosions.
Israeli defense forces are preparing to strike Iran's nuclear facilities. This opportunity arose after Syria's air defense systems were disabled.
