As of now, about 31 thousand Hasidim have arrived in Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. The city is implementing corresponding security measures.
"All security measures are the same as last year. The new addition is the installation of introspection devices, where every pilgrim arriving undergoes screening. The police can see everything they bring. Anything prohibited is discarded and disposed of accordingly," Deputy Mayor Oleh Hanich said.
Moreover, Hanich stated that he is currently unaware if Israel has provided any assistance to the city during Rosh Hashanah. Meanwhile, Uman spends around UAH 2 million to maintain the pilgrimage zone for Rosh Hashanah.
It is worth noting that information has emerged online regarding the financial impact of the Jewish New Year on Uman, and the prices in the city during the Rosh Hashanah celebrations.
Last year, over 30 thousand Hasidim visited Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations.
