Scholz's call to Putin and Taurus missiles — Zelenskyy's speech
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the country's needs for Taurus missiles. He also responded to the call of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
The Ukrainian leader said this at a press conference with Olaf Scholz in Kyiv on Monday, December 2, as a Novyny.LIVE correspondent reports.
Supply of Taurus missiles
"We are constantly working to ensure that the views of Germany and Ukraine on the supply of Taurus are more in common," the Head of State emphasized.
He was asked how these missiles would help Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized that then the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be able to hit more military targets of the Russian occupiers.
Scholz's conversation with Putin
The Ukrainian leader noted that Scholz had warned Putin about the call in advance.
Zelenskyy emphasized that he does not support Scholz's strategy on this issue, as he believes that Putin's isolation, both sanctions-based and diplomatic, strengthens Ukraine and weakens Russia.
The President believes that one phone call could be the beginning of a series of negotiations.
Aid to Ukraine from Germany
Zelenskyy reported that in total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Germany has allocated 28 billion euros in aid to Ukraine.
According to him, there are currently not enough air defense systems to protect all the necessary facilities.
End of the war in Ukraine
The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine's plans are unchanged, namely to be stronger in order to end the war next year.
Zelenskyy noted that the country hopes for the immutability of the US policy on aid, but it is necessary for Europe now to think about how to strengthen Kyiv.
According to the Ukrainian leader, one of the topics of his conversation with Scholz was the issue of trust in various European countries.
As a reminder, Zelenskyy spoke sharply about what Russia should do.
The Head of State also said that during the fall, the Russian occupiers launched 347 missiles of various types on Ukraine.
