On Monday, December 30, a federal appeals court upheld a jury's finding that Donald Trump sexually assaulted Jean Carroll in the dressing room of an upscale department store in the mid-1990s.

Appeals court rules in Trump's case

The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has upheld a jury's decision to award Jean Carroll $5 million for defamation and sexual assault. Carroll said in court that Trump turned a friendly meeting in the spring of 1996 into a brutal assault.

Trump has repeatedly denied the assault and has not appeared in court. However, he gave brief testimony in the defamation case earlier this year. Then the jury decided that Trump should pay $83.3 million to the writer Jean Carroll.

"Mr. Trump has not shown that the district court erred in any of the appealed decisions," the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said.

Roberta Kaplan, a lawyer who represented Jean Carroll during the trial, said that the party was satisfied with the decision. Kaplan thanked the court for its careful consideration of the parties' arguments.

It should be recalled that in the United States of America, the trial of the accused in the assassination attempt on newly-elected President Donald Trump at a golf club was postponed. The hearing will take place in September next year.

Donald Trump filed a request with the Supreme Court to postpone the law requiring the Chinese company ByteDance to sell TikTok until January 19, 2025, in order to prevent the platform from being banned in the United States. He said that he knows how to fix the situation.
