Zelenskyy appointed a new commander of the Ground Forces
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of State Defense Committee. Important personnel decisions were made for the Ukrainian army during the meeting — a new commander of the Ground Forces and a Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces were appointed.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this via Telegram on Friday, November 29.
A meeting of State Defense Committee
Zelenskyy claimed that today, State Defense Committee discussed issues of energy security, elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes, and protection of critical infrastructure. The President noted that restoration work is ongoing in the regions.
"I set the task of strengthening air defense and relevant negotiations with partners," the Head of State wrote.
He added that today, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the situation on the front line and in the areas where the Kursk operation was being conducted.
Personnel decisions in the Army of Ukraine
The President announced that Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed as the new commander of the Ground Forces of the AFU. The military successfully organized defense in the Kharkiv direction, disrupting the offensive operations of the Russian troops.
Colonel Oleh Apostol, an experienced commander of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, was appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Both have proven their effectiveness in battles," Zelenskyy wrote.
The President emphasized that the main task is to increase the combat capability of the Ukrainian army, ensure the quality of military personnel training, and introduce innovative approaches to managing people in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state," the Head of State emphasized.
It should be recalled that on February 11, Zelenskyy appointed Oleksandr Pavlyuk as the head of the Ground Forces instead of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Recently, Volodymyr Zelenskyy made personnel changes in the leadership of the Sumy City Military Administration. Serhiy Kryvosheyenko became the new head.
